"I burned down the house, and covered up the body."
Well well well. Looks like Walter Harmon, Jr., copped a plea. Evidently he DID help dispose of the body of Carla Collins, a federal drug informant. Remember, this is former Kanawha County School Board member Betty Jarvis' nephew (previous blog entries on this here, and here if you want the background). This is also the same guy who is (was) being represented by Mike Clifford, and that is how Wanda Carney, founder of West Virginia Wants to Know, got her nose dirty in this mess. She was allegedly involved in poking around in another defendant's apartment to find evidence that would help Harmon's case. She and Jarvis both got charged with crimes in this Mingogate.
Evidently, that evidence wasn't really so valuable, since Harmon's copped a plea. Evidently he did the things he was accused of. He burned down Collins' house, and threw leaves on Collins' body in an attempt to hide the body and cover up her murder. Collins was helping the Feds in the investigation of a cocaine ring in Southern West Virginia. Harmon is now looking at 20 years in federal prison; sentencing is set for February 17, 2006.
That is all pretty much factual and not too controversial. How this was received by the media in the area, was quite muted. In fact, 58Live and Chicago Furlip (Mike Agnello) didn't utter a peep about it. No, they spent the day talking about the absolutely mesmerizing issue of the 2 dog limit per household proposed in Charleston. They spent the day talking about Secretary of State Betty Ireland and her spending state money on trinkets (see the entry directly above, for a discussion of that issue). Not a word (except from the guy reading the news during the breaks) about ol "Burn 'em and Bury 'em" Harmon. This is actually not surprising given the previous attitude shown by 58 Live, and Agnello in particular, regarding this issue. Furlip previously tried to downplay Harmon's part in this, along with the whole "well, this is all politically motivated" shtick and basically defended Wanda Carney's actions, and Harmon himself to a lesser degree.
Well, now we know Agnello backed the wrong horse in this race. His guy did it. And admitted it in open court. And, predictably, Agnello stood silent on this issue today. This from a radio show that pumped up a Wanda Carney interview a couple months ago, as breaking news (only to have Carney call in and say basically, "Nothing happened, nothing to report"). The station that can't worship Wanda Carney enough basically ignored pretty big news on a case directly involving Carney. If this doesn't show you faithful readers that Agnello is a fraud, I don't know what would. I'm working on another post on this, stay tuned.

Betty and Wanda are West Virginia's Agatha Christies. Quit picking on these fine, well-trained, dedicated detectives. They know more about solving cases than teh state police. Aincha ever watched MURDER SHE WROTE?

Carla and I grew up together, in a way. She was the prettiest girl in Taylorville bottom when I was 13. I loved her and have often thought of her. Today I heard about her murder and have been sick at my stomack since.
Our hillside homes of WV and other rural areas are being poisoned by men and women too sorry to work, to mean to love, and too stupid to realize it. A culture once dominated by a strong work ethic and community pride is slowing sinking into a depression that is choking out education, sports, and traditional family values. Lazy men stumbling around looking for easy money and destitute women on which to pray have forsaken their Creator and turned their back on anything decent.
George Lecco and his kind are the vile evil men who have made a life out of vampiring off the souls of young girls like Carla and his own daughter, whom I have sadly can admit to partying with many years ago. Unable and unwilling to earn a decent living he turned to destroying lives to feed his own evil desires and make fat is putrid belly by sucking hope from people and replacing hope with the false god of "getting high".
Unfortunately, Carla fell for his lie and when she tried to make her escape by helping law enforcement -she paid with her life. She paid with a slow gruesome death and a shallow grave that is much better suited for Lecco and his powder snorting cronies. Her kids now have no mother while he bargains for his life.
May his legal jousting end with a faulty electric chair that slowly fries his ass from the inside out.

My cousin Charles Lambert was in a 4wheeler wreck... The person driving said that he Side Swipped her... Atv had been hit from the back... Funny thing too... Walts girlfriends mom was driving that very car... Further looking into it, the FBI had been talking to my cousin... 1 person saw the whole thing happen... There was a Blonde Headed man driving the car...
Dave Stratton was in on this... Everyone was, I know what was going on, without all the roumors, because of the people me, my aunt, and my cousins wift talked too... They 3wayed dave, and he was laughing about it...

wanda carney is nothing but pure evil and for her to be in mingo county after this poor girl was killed, and at the house of the person who killed her, should tell you something, wanda must have a lot to lose. wanda does not get her hands dirty she gets everyone else to do her dirty work. They were not there to find anything to clear mrs jarvis nephew, jarvis already knew her nephew was quilty, they were there to destroy any evidence to prove he was quilty. it did not seem to bother jarvis and wanda carney about this young girl being tortured and begging for her life, they talked about it very casually as if the girls death was nothing, with no compassion at all about what had happened. wanda carney would not get involved unless she was also involved with the nephew, she was out to cover her own skin. everything about wanda is crooked, asked her what, and this west virginia wants to know garbage is her way of prying into peoples private lives to destroy any one who goes to work every day and minds their own business. what work has she done over the years that she knows about anything. she has destroyed so many innocent people with her lies. she had the city of nitro to pay her attorneys fees, yet she drives a lexus. she threatened a council man for his job unless he had sex with her, get real who and what man in his right mind would want to have sex with her. how stupid could they be to believe anything she has to say. they must not check anything out. doesn't anyone know how to find out the truth about this monstor.

it's amazing. my father is Walt Harmon, and you people seem to be more interested in him than the murder of someone who's life was ended for something so stupid. I love my dad, and I could tell you many good things about him, but you wouldn't want to hear that. No one wants to hear the good, just the mistakes. Who among us has never gotten in with a bad crowd? Which of you has never done anything you regret? Until you tell everyone the horrid things you have done, don't talk about my family. I send my deepest sympathy to Carla's family, and I hope her kids will be alright. But, please, my father didn't kill her. I believe that with all my heart, and I would just like for my child to know her grandfather. Just leave us alone.

Tifney didn't get herself arrested in Mingo County. Didn't get herself convicted and put on home confinement. As for nobody being at Wanda's trial. Wanda has burned her own bridges.
When you burn all of your bridges there won't be many left next to you.
The actions of Wanda Carney not only in Mingo County but in the City of Nitro - has tainted anything that WVWTK has done or would do in the future.
Does everyone know that Walt is getting out of prison in June of this year because he testified against Porgy and the others??

I have never seen this website before and I was reading all the comments and alot of it pissed me off. alot of people talking about stuff they don't know shit about.My 1st comment is for Bingmanch: just so you know Jake Hatfield was also represented by Mike Clifford,he didn't hardly do no time at all in jail. Walt Harmon did not kill Carla nor Did he hide her body. However he did burn a trailor. He is not getting 20 yrs in prison. And nothing you said was factual and yes it is controversial. I do not who Furlip is but he is correct it is political so before you run your mouth get the correct information.
And for the other comment made by anonymous;walt did not kill Carla it has been proven. However I'm pretty sure someone wanted Walt to take the fall for it. Walts mother n law also did not hit the 4 wheeler. the 4 wheeler was not hit from behind either. I understand that you lost your cousin and that is very hard and you feel the need to blame someone but your blame is on the wrong person and my sympathy goes out to his family. There is pictures of the vehicle and it was hit at the back of the front tire and it goes all the to the back of the vehicle. There was also someone else on the 4 wheeler with him that night, and I have a good idea of who it was. I have talked to this person and they told me they no that she did not hit him,this person is really close kin to him.

Well,well,well,my name just happens to be Walter Harmon.You all are entitled to your opinions, but know this; I just spent 3 and a half years in prison for a crime that most people recieve a 18 month misdomeanor for.I got what I deserved, and I`m ashamed of my involvement,hind-sight is 20-20.I can only say, if your involved in drugs, get help it has only two ends, prison or death. Make no mistake, you have no friends when the heat comes down,everyone will turn on you. It`s very real, and it`s very dangerous. I`m putting my life back together, but i`ll have to live with this for the rest of my life. It was a senseless, terrible,terrible,tragedy. I feel so sorry for Carlas family. For what it`s worth,I`m sorry.

I know a hell of alot more about the case than you do. Just so you will know, Atrailor is what was set on fire to hide the fact that Carla had been murdered there. I think what Bingmanch is trying to point out with the "trailor" comment is that you uneducated people that are on here giving their opinion don't even know that "trailor" isn't a word it's "trailer". Maybe if the people that have committed these crimes would have spent as much time getting an education and getting out of the poverty stricken "Mingo County" and not selling drugs, killing and burying people, maybe this terrible crime would not have happened. God knows these crimes have affected many families, not only the victims, but the criminal masterminds behind this mess as well!!!!
I grew up with George Lecco in Detroit, MI. We lived on a street named Beniteau in the shadow of St. Rose Cathloc church. He was a child that was given everything that anyone could want by his mother and father. In fact I remember his mother giving him a set of brass knuckles aftr he got into a fight in front of his house and telling him to go back out and finish the kid off; which he did. The wierd thing about his mother was that she would give him great things (I remember he had this great little 4 wheeled surrey but it always sat in the garage because his mom wouldn't let him use it). I rememver her as being a really mean lady who's temperment was more like a tough man rather than a giving mother. Although I would never have guessed that all these years later Porgie would become a drug dealing murderer I really wasn't all that suprised. I always knew him a a realy, really mean guy who came from a borderline sociopathic mother that always talked about hurting people. Sad...
